ILRI Collaborates with Kenyan Government to Combat Cattle Lung Disease
The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) has partnered with the Kenyan government and key stakeholders to eliminate contagious bovine pleuropneumonia (CBPP), a highly infectious cattle lung disease threatening livelihoods. The initiative combines vaccine development, disease surveillance, and farmer education to curb economic losses in East Africa’s pastoral communities. This aligns with CGIAR’s One Health approach, integrating animal and human welfare for sustainable agriculture.
