Sixth Call for Proposals for STEG Larger Research Grants
STEG invites applications to the sixth call for proposals for Larger Research Grants (LRGs). LRGs of up to £100,000 can fund research assistance, data collection and/or purchase, and teaching buyouts, or relevant remuneration practices, for the principal investigator and co-investigators from partner institutions. Grants also support travel to field sites, even when secondary data is utilised. We view this kind of travel (with the possibilities for field visits and conversations with policy makers) as particularly important for researchers who lack prior experience in the countries that they intend to study. Please note that cost effectiveness and value for money are important evaluation criteria and submitted budgets must adhere to the LRG Budget Guidelines.

Bourse de Recherche GreenGold AgroVenture 2026 - Master en Conservation et amélioration des plantes indigènes
Green Gold Agro Venture, une société coopérative camerounaise, souhaite soutenir trois (3) étudiants de master en amélioration des plantes pour mener des recherches sur la production de semences de plantes locales et exotiques en 2026. Green Gold Agro Venture Cameroun prendra en charge tous les coûts liés au matériel biologique, aux frais de déplacement pour la mise en place de la collection de semences et la réalisation de l'expérimentation, à la rédaction du mémoire et aux publications. Objectif 2026: Grâce à cette initiative, Green Gold AgroVenture souhaite évaluer l'efficacité de différentes méthodes de propagation de cultures indigènes ou exotiques ciblées et offrir aux agriculteurs des options abordables pour la production de semences. Localisation : L'expérimentation se déroulera à Bangang-Bachio (Département des Bamboutos, région de l’Ouest) avec des déplacements réguliers dans d'autres parties de la région. Encadrement: L'ensemble des travaux de terrain et des travaux académiques seront effectués sous la supervision d'un directeur de recherche dédié, en collaboration avec d'autres experts en semences. Durée : Les travaux devraient durer en moyenne 6 mois (de mars 2026 à août 2026). Profil des Candidats: - Être titulaire d'une licence ou d'un diplôme équivalent en sciences végétales/agronomie. - Avoir validé la première année de master avec un excellent relevé de notes dans les disciplines apparentées. - Être disponible pour commencer la recherche à partir de début février 2026. - Être capable de mettre en place un protocole expérimental selon les instructions reçues et d'assurer les tâches quotidiennes en champ. Positions ouvertes: Trois (03) postes de recherche sont à pourvoir en 2026 pour travailler sur la multiplication des semences des produits suivants : - Un (01) sur les racines et tubercules indigènes des hauts plateaux de l’ouest du Cameroun - Un (01) sur les variétés indigènes de haricots d’Afrique - Un (01) sur le développement des semences de poire-fraise – pitaya Dossier de Candidature Les candidats potentiels doivent soumettre leur candidature en un seul fichier joint, comprenant les documents suivants : - Lettre de motivation - Curriculum vitae (deux pages maximum) - Relevés de notes de licence et/ou de première année de master - Lettre de recommandation d'un enseignant en amélioration des plantes susceptible d'assurer la direction académique du projet. Call for applications for Master Research in Indigenous Plant Breeding in Western Cameroon
Green Gold Agro Venture, a Cameroon-registered cooperative society, is seeking to support three (03) Master students in plant breeding to conduct research on seed production of local and exotic plants in 2026. All the costs related to the biological material, travel costs related to the establishment of the seed collection and implementation of the research experiment, thesis write-up, and publications will be supported by Green Gold Agro Venture Cameroon. Objective 2026: Through this initiative, Green Gold AgroVenture wants to assess the efficacy of various propagation methods of targeted native or exotic crops and provide farmers with affordable options for seed production. Location: The field experimentation will be in Bangang-Bachio (Bamboutos Division, Western region) with regular travel to other parts of the Region. Supervision: All the field and academic work will be under the supervision of a dedicated academic supervisor in collaboration with other seed experts. Duration: The work should take an average duration of 6 months (From March 2026 to August 2026). Candidate profile: - Hold a Bachelor degree (BSc) or equivalent with a good academic record in the area of Plant/Crop Science. - Has completed the first year of Master studies with good academic records in any related discipline. - Be ready to start research by 1st Feb 2026 - be able to set the experimental design under instructions and follow the day-to-day tasks at the farm Positions open: Three (03) research positions are open in 2026 to work seed multiplication of the following commodities: - One (01) in indigenous roots and tubers of the western highlands of Cameroon - One (01) in indigenous bean varieties of Africa - One (01) strawberry pear seed development Application process Potential candidates should submit their application as a single attached file, including the following documents: - Motivation letter - Curriculum vitae (not more than two pages) - Academic transcripts of BSc and/or 1st year MSc - Letter of recommendation from a plant breeding Lecturer to serve as potential academic supervisor.
